Pillbug/Sowbug – Adults range from 1/4th to 5/8th of an inch in size with slate gray coloration. They are crustaceans and not insects. Pillbugs have a hard shell and can roll up into a tight ball, where sowbugs have a soft body and can only roll up into a loose ball. Outside, both are found under logs, planters, rocks, mulch, and other decaying matter. Inside, they are found in basements, around bulkheads, and garage doors.
